ABUJA, Nigeria — Two pastors kidnapped in late December in Nigeria were released Jan. 5.
On Dec. 29, terrorists abducted James Kwayang and Ishaku Chiwar from the grounds of the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria in Mbila-Malibu town in Nigeria’s Adamawa state. Daniel Mbaya, pastor and denomination president of the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, reported to media outlets Christian Daily International and Morning Star News that the two men had been returned safely.

The news outlets’ Jan. 10 article says details of the pastors’ release had not been disclosed.
According to the news outlets, “Kidnappings of Christians and others have become commonplace in Nigeria, including the abduction of at least five Christians in Nasarawa state in December.”
Nigeria, which has led the world in the number of Christians killed for their faith or kidnapped, is No. 6 on Open Doors’ 2024 World Watch List of places most difficult to be a Christian.
