Thirteen University of Mobile (UMobile) theater students made an expedition to Kiefersfelden, Germany, July 5–27 to do an intensive study of musical theater and opera at the International Performing Arts Institute (IPAI).
This was the first learning experience of its kind for UMobile musical theater students. Each IPAI student participated in two private voice, acting and repertoire coaching lessons each week as well as daily German and dance classes. It included a musical theater intensive held in Hamburg and an opera intensive held in Munich with industry leaders currently active in their field. Joining UMobile students at IPAI this summer were students from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, the University of New Hampshire in Durham and The Boston Conservatory, among others.
