Unity Strength

Unity Strength

On Independence Day, I reflected on the need to pray for strength that unites versus weaknesses that divide in Southern Baptist relationships. The need is acute in seeking to be free as a Christian in pursuit of truth.

While stirring the alphabet soup of SBC, CBF and BGCT, I focused on the “B” in the soup and wondered how best to develop immunity to killer bees that are spreading the contagious pollen of capital “F” fundamentalism.

Praise the Lord, the answer is clear. As a layman, I can still pray, worship and sing off-key “My Faith Has Found a Resting Place” and “It Is Well With My Soul.” The anchor of my small “f” fundamentalism holds. Exaltation properly belongs to Christ alone.
