The University of Mobile (UM) board of trustees has announced plans to select an interim president to provide leadership during the presidential search process, which is expected to take a minimum of nine to 12 months.
Board of trustees chairman David Conner said in an email the board believes “it is in the best interest of [UM] to have an interim president in place as quickly as possible, ideally before the start of the 2019–2020 academic year.”
Conner said Fred Wilson, who was appointed UM’s temporary interim president following Tim Smith’s resignation in February, will serve until the official interim president is selected. Conner noted the board is “thankful that he was willing to serve in this capacity.” (UM)
