Use new technology

Seventy years ago your headlines might have read: “Electric amplification of pastor’s voice threatens church-pastor relationship.”

Today we have a new communication medium i.e., “If it’s written it’s probably on the Internet.” To attempt to suppress the use of this amazing technology is not only a mistake, it’s futile.

Ashlee Simpson’s mistake on Saturday Night Live of lip-synching the wrong song only serves to highlight what musicians have been doing for years, including traveling Broadway musicals.

In the near future a church administrator will stand in the pulpit. But on a giant screen will be a famous preacher delivering one of his historic sermons, this having been downloaded on DVD. With this system the audience will be guaranteed a stimulating, knowledgeable, spirit-inspired message.

The pastor of the church will be released for more important ministerial responsibilities, unencumbered by the requirement to originate three or four messages a week.

Think of the possibilities. The Southern Baptist Convention will have its own library of “doctrinally pure” DVDs.
