Vestavia Hills Baptist Church, Decatur, celebrated its 50th anniversary Oct. 26. Danny Duncum, former music minister, sang a solo, and current music minister Steve Yarborough led the congregation in singing traditional hymns. Ken Blackwood, director of missions and ministries for Morgan Baptist Association, was the guest preacher. Pastor Joe Holmes accepted a commemorative plaque from Blackwood, a commissioner of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, on behalf of the church.
