Walker Baptist Medical Center has taken its services for families in the Walker County area to a new level. The Jasper hospital spent more than $2.5 million to redesign and expand its obstetric/gynecology and nursery unit. The grand opening was held May 30.
“The birth of a child is one of life’s most miraculous events, and we now have a facility to reflect that,” said Joel Tate, president of Walker Baptist. “We are eager to show our community the wonderful facilities we have developed.”
The facility, which is known as the Family Center, includes the five existing labor/delivery/recovery rooms, nursing stations, pre- and post-operative areas and patient rooms. In addition, eight regular-size rooms were converted into four large postpartum suites that offer hotel-like amenities and an up-to-date environment for larger families to celebrate the new birth.
The waiting area boasts new seating, a coffee station, carpet with inlays and new lighting.
The nursery viewing windows have been relocated and lowered to make it easier for all members of the family to see the newest addition. (TAB)
