It is time — past time — to put to rest this postmodern idea of toleration. No true God-fearing Christian advocates violence to people with different opinions or of other religions. But I for one am sick of hearing about how those of us who believe the Bible is absolutely true and prepositional are intolerant. Postmoderns believe that you can’t know truth, the best you can do is to have an opinion of it. If believing that Jesus is the only way of salvation is intolerant, so be it. If believing that Muslims are misguided and lost human beings who need evangelization is intolerant, then I’ll be intolerant. You have to wonder about people who profess Christ but refer to their faith as only an opinion. Was Jesus intolerant when He said, “No one comes to the Father but by me?” (or was that just His opinion?) The real reason why revival doesn’t come is that we’ve lost a passion for the absolute truth. We read articles such as Gushee placed in The Alabama Baptist and see the evidence right before our eyes. As true believers we cannot condone nor accept wickedness as a valid opinion. If the Word declares something to be sin, who are we to trifle with it? The Bible is not a book of opinions but the absolute truth revealed by men inspired by God Himself.
