Among the guests at a White House ceremony marking the National Day of Prayer on May 2 was Yisroel Goldstein, leader of the Chabad of Poway synagogue in San Diego recently attacked by a gunman. Goldstein, standing with his hands in bandages after a finger was blown off in the attack, tried to pivot beyond the tragedy — which killed one and wounded several others. ‘If something good can come out of this … horrific event, let us bring back a moment of silence to our public school system,’ he said.
