Anita Yother joined The Alabama Baptist staff as a graphic artist effective Jan. 3.
Yother came to the Baptist from national Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU), where she served more than five years as a graphic artist. She worked on Accent magazine for three of those years and Mission Friends for two years.
Her duties with the WMU also included work with the National Acteens Convention in Louisville, KY., in 1998, where she helped produce a daily newsletter.
A member of First Baptist Church, Saks, in Anniston, Yother also is active at The Church at Brook Hills, Birmingham.
“We are proud to have Anita join our team,” said Editor Bob Terry. “The skills and experience she obtained at WMU will serve us well in the area of graphic design and Baptist life,” he added.
Yother fills the position left vacant by former graphic artist Rex Harrell, who recently accepted a job in Indiana.
Yother grew up in Saks community of Anniston, where she graduated from Saks High School in 1985.
She is a 1993 graduate of Jacksonville State University, where she earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in graphic design.
Yother sang in the youth choir at Saks, along with participating in youth activities.
“I’m excited about being part of The Alabama Baptist,” she said. “Work is my hobby, so I’m looking forward to the contributions I can make.”
Yother’s duties at the paper will include photography, layout, design and creating artwork.
