Ten adults from First Baptist Church, Mobile, went to Ukraine June 26–July 5 to work with Ukraine Special Needs Orphanage Fund Inc.
The team worked alongside 19 Virginia Baptists, holding Vacation Bible School at an orphanage and an intake center, the first step into an orphanage; helping with Care & Repair construction ministry; and building a pavilion at an orphanage for special-needs children. Team members also spent time educating parents of autistic and Down syndrome children on how to work with their children so they can attend public schools.
Chris George, pastor of First, Mobile, and the team leader, said it was an eye-opening experience and a good reminder that God is at work everywhere, including in Ukraine.
“The trip was about exchanging smiles and laughter. The children knew about Jesus, and our mission was to provide them a foretaste of the kingdom of heaven,” George said.
