To all my brothers and sisters in the faith and on the journey, I have a pet peeve that manifests itself every year about this time. Some call me petty while others who know me understand what drives me. I have, and Lord willing, will always persevere to rightly divide God’s Word, the Word of truth. So here goes.
Please, please, please — move the magi/wise men from your nativity scene. They simply were not there. Place them across the room or in a different room. When people ask, you will have a wonderful opportunity to share the true story of the Nativity.
Tell them when the magi saw the star appear they wondered what it meant, then after searching the Scriptures that Daniel had taught them, they figured it out and journeyed to Jerusalem to see the new-born King.
All of this took several months at least. But on the night of Christ’s birth the only ones there were Mary, Joseph, the shepherds and the angels.
