A matter of heresy?

Regarding Frank Hancock’s letter to the editor in the Sept. 4 issue, this letter leaves the impression that the Old Testament is no longer relative in matters of homosexuality or anything else (odd, that it is also mentioned in the New Testament as well, and in the context that none of those who practice homosexuality will be entering the kingdom of God). Loving our neighbors is not the “one and only dictum.” We are called to be holy, set aside, a peculiar people. Right now we cannot think of anything that makes us more peculiar than standing up for righteousness in this matter of homosexuality or any of the rest of what goes on these days. If we are admonished in anything, it is to love the sinner and hate the sin — not roll over and pretend it does not exist or that one of God’s hand-picked disciples got a little too hung up on his devotion to the old laws which caused him to “distort the words of Jesus.” Oh please! Can you spell, h–e–r–e–s–y?
