Theme clinics and events garnered high marks during the Alabama-Spain partnership.
“Young people will come to international camps,” said Roberto Velert, pastor of Bona Nova Baptist Church in Barcelona, noting the success with the sports clinics in Spain. “America is felt to be a step ahead of us.”
The baseball clinic sponsored by Shades Mountain Baptist Church, Vestavia Hills, was one of the favorites.
Emmanuel Buch, pastor of First Baptist, Madrid (membership 200-300), said the group from Shades Mountain was good for the church and for the youth. They were encouraged by the testimonies of others, he said.
“What they did was work with children and youth, and that came in handy because our youth group was becoming kind of weak,” Buch said.
“We did this work in cooperation with another church, and that helped us to have a better relationship with a church that is just now joining our convention,” he said.
