Cecelia Ann Walker, executive director of chaplaincy and clinical pastoral education for Brookwood Baptist Health, has been named the 2024 alumna of the year for Samford University’s Beeson Divinity School.

Samford University held a ceremonial groundbreaking April 16 to commemorate phase one of Samford Horizons: A Blueprint for Tomorrow, the university’s campus master plan.

Samford University journalism students and staffers from The Samford Crimson, Samford’s student-produced newspaper, received 17 awards from the Southeast Journalism Conference recently held at Troy University.
Nationally known author and speaker Trudy Cathy White, daughter of Chick-fil-A founder Truett Cathy, was the featured speaker at this year’s Samford University Legacy League scholarship luncheon.
“Character education is foundational to developing healthy and whole adults who, in turn, develop healthy and whole communities,” said Anna McEwan, dean of Samford University’s Orlean Beeson School of Education.
“Pursuing unity is not an elective. It is part of the core curriculum.”
