Ron Butler – who died Oct. 29 – retired in May after 44 years of serving churches in Alabama, Florida and Mississippi. He served as pastor of Pine Level Baptist in Chatom and Spice Pond Baptist in Eight Mile.
Ladell Blanton, who served as director of missions for Bethlehem and Pine Barren Baptist associations from 1999 to 2003, died Oct. 3. He also served for years as a pastor in Mississippi.
One of the new programs at Lifeline is a mentoring ministry and biblical study called “Worthy,” which connects to the local church women who have experienced unplanned pregnancy or who are post-abortive.
Tom and Beverly Toone of Birmingham see their mission as serving. Since the 1980s they have worked as “doers” in different missions projects at their church and with the Birmingham Metro Baptist Association.
Cycling group set to begin 500 mile ride — from Huntsville to Orange Beach called the Bama Rama 500 — to raise money, tour churches. The ride will take seven days and go through Gadsden, Oxford, Auburn and Troy, among other cities.
