He holds a bachelor of arts degree in religion from Samford University in Birmingham, a master of divinity degree from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky., and a doctor of ministry degree from New Orleans Seminary. He previously served as pastor of Wayside Church, Alexander City. He also served at Lystra Church, Cullman, and Damascus Church, Hanceville. His wife is Rita.
