Is amnesty right?

This letter references the article “Biblical principles important for law on immigration” in the June 7 issue of The Alabama Baptist.

Granted, the issue of how to resolve the number of illegal aliens in our country is complex and difficult. However, to try as Dr. David Gushee has to equate God’s command to “love our neighbors as ourselves” by granting amnesty plus rights and privileges reserved for law-abiding citizens to those who violate our laws is the “quantum leap” that Dr. Richard Land and Dr. Gushee are trying to sell to the Southern Baptist Convention. God has welcomed us into His Kingdom but only following repentance from sin. To my knowledge, the illegal aliens have made no effort to repent of their crime.
