New Bethel Church WMU sends help to Haiti

There are lots of needs in Haiti, and the Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) of New Bethel Baptist Church, Collinsville, wanted to be a part of meeting those needs.

So the 10 members set to work to make “bath cozies.” They gathered supplies, stitched together folded washcloths containing bars of soap, bagged the 329 completed cozies and packed them for shipment along with seven Buckets of Hope.

“It’s a mission because there’s someone in need, and that’s what our organization is about — missions and helping others. … We can’t go off somewhere, but we can send something by somebody else. So that’s just what we’re doing,” said Joyce Houser, New Bethel Baptist’s WMU director.

Daniel Lawson is pastor of the Lookout Mountain Baptist Association church.
