Following the killing of a United Church of Christ pastor on the island of Mindanao on Aug. 2, church leaders in the Philippines are urging Christians to speak and stand together in upholding the sanctity of human life and human rights. The Ecumenical Bishops Forum alleges attacks on Christian human rights defenders have increased since 2016 when President Rodrigo Duterte (above) took office because of Duterte’s ‘avowed contempt for human rights.’ (MS)
