Marion police announced yesterday (Feb. 27) that they had a man in custody in conjunction with a fire in the former Judson College library.
They arrested 40-year-old Micah Hester at the scene Feb. 23 after talking him out from behind a barricade made from an old refrigerator, stoves, boxes and other items, Police Chief Kendrick Howell said.
Hester had threatened to shoot at officers if they approached, but after about 30 minutes, they convinced him to come out. They then found out he had no weapons, according to WAKA 8 Action News.
He is charged with arson, burglary and making a terrorist threat.
