“This degree represents more than your academic success,” Charles Smith told over 300 graduates in a ceremony held May 10 on the university’s Great Commission Lawn.
“Since 1961, the foundation and fuel of the University of Mobile has been none other than our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” said Charles W. Smith Jr. in his presidential address at the Inaugural Celebration held May 1.
“You cannot walk with God on a treadmill,” said H.B. Charles Jr., the pastor-teacher of Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church of Jacksonville and Orange Park, Florida.
“We are called to trust in Jesus’ authority because of His identity,” Patrick Schreiner said. “We trust Him not only because He gives light, but because He Himself is light.”
“My desire and prayer is that we would leave this chapel time with a larger view of Jesus of Nazareth than the one we came in with and that your passions would be ignited for Him,” said Jeff Medders.
Craig Carlisle reminded students about the relevancy of Scripture while sharing a powerful message from Jeremiah 17 and encouraged students to always choose Christ as their first response during challenging and uncertain times.
